Image above: the current Panasonic 7-14mm f/4.0 lens. I have an update about Panasonic lenses: A few weeks ago we received the rumor that Panasonic was going to update some of the current lenses. A second and a third source now confirmed that the rumor is correct. There will be a new 7-14mm OIS lens which should be announced the second half of the year. We don’t know yet what the other lenses are but we suspect the 45mm macro could also get trough some kind of redesign. The sources also confirmed that the m43 version of the current 25mm f/1.4 Four Thirds lens is coming in April (that’s FT5). . . . → Read More: (FT4) Panasonic will redesign a few of the current lenses. 7-14mm OIS confirmed.

Digitalrev is also known for their video reviews (the video above shows a GH2 vx 60D comparison) Our US/Canda readers are very frustrated because the GH2 isn’t in Stock at Amazon US , Adorama and BHphoto . That’s why the well know online store Digitalrev contacted me. They wanted you to know that they have the GH2 in Stock (Click here) and you can order it right now. They ship it to US and Canada too! Here is the text they wrote to me: “ Since each state in the US has different tax system, the import handling cannot be pre-applied for US customers. Therefore, the tax will be applied when the camera imported to the specific state. We will provide a photocopied version of the English menu as the cameras are considered as grey import that come with non-English manual, such as Japanese or Chinese. The camera itself would be in English or if just in case, the manual (the booklet) will tell how to change it into English. ” Click here to visit the digitalrev GH2 site and order the GH2 ! And here is the link to the Panasonic GF2 which is also in Stock. Feel free to comment this post to share your experience with Digitalrev. The shop owners are reading your comments! Bye the way, digitalrev ships worldwide. So everyone can buy at Digitalrev. But I know US and canadian readers are particularly in need for the GH2! . . . → Read More: For US/Canada readers: How to buy the GH2 at Digitalrev (Hong Kong)

John Brawley tested the Panasonic GH2 and the AG-AF100 cameras. He complains one particular issue the AG-AF100 has: “ Listen to the noise picked up by the camera mike as I change the iris on the camera. It actually sounded worse to me than what was recorded in this clip This is a test clip shot on an AF 102 (AF100). that was done using the Olympus 7-14 and a Panasonic m4/3 adaptor . I tested it with a great many 4/3 lenses from both Panasonic and Olympus. They all make the same noise. The interesting thing is that the same lenses and adaptors on the GH2 didn’t seem to make the same noise .” More at johnbrawley.wordpress.com AG-AF100 preorder links at Adorama or BHphoto. . . . → Read More: AG-AF100 lens iris noise…

Nikon’s COOLPIX S8000 is a stylish 14 Megapixel super-zoom compact with a 10x optical range; Nikon claims it’s the slimmest model with a 10x zoom, and the S8000 also features a large and detailed 3in / 920k screen, 720p HD movies, an HDMI port and the ability to recharge its battery when connected to the USB port on your computer. It represents a compelling combination of features at a good price, but faces tough competition from Sony’s Cyber-shot H55 and Panasonic’s TZ8 / ZS5. DCresource tested the new Panasonic GF2: “ It offers very good photo quality, snappy performance, a touchscreen LCD with a customizable interface, the best Auto mode on the planet, and Full HD video recording. The bad news is that it has issues with redeye, underexposure, and highlight clipping, and one of the available kit lenses isn’t great, either. ” GF2 shop links: Amazon US , Adorama , BHphoto , Amazon UK , Amazon DE and eBay . Focus Numerique tested the Olympus XZ-1 and the results are astonishing! The lens is super sharp even wide open (at f/1.8)!!! Distortion is minimal. The only moderate issue is Vignetting. Image quality is good from ISO 100 to 400. Dynamic range is a little bit less than the Panasonic LX5 . Panasonic UK just released a press release saying the GF2 will be in Stock (in UK) starting from today. There are a few very interesting info: 1) 1 of 4 system camera sold in December (in UK) is a mirrorless camera (Panasonic calls it CSC=Compact System Camera). 2) Mirrorless share grow 194% vs. the previous year! 3) 1 of 10 of all changeable lens cameras sold were from the Panasonic! Those are good news for Panasonic. I hope this will convince the head office to increase the camera production to satisfy our demand for a shorter time supply! The GF2 is already in Stock at Amazon UK , via third party resellers at Amazon DE and at asian+european eBay resellers (Click here to see current auctions) . According to BHphoto (Click here) the GF2 will arrive in February. Also Amazon US and Adorama are accepting preorders. Click the button to read the press release: Panasonic changes the Digital Photo market forever Following a year of great success in 2010, Panasonic is ready to kick start 2011 with a bang as tomorrow marks the launch of the next great Lumix G camera, Lumix GF2, in a store near you. Already awarded 5 magazine awards since announced in November, the GF2 is the smallest and lightest system camera from Panasonic, boosting DSLR like photo performance and Full HD movies with stereo sound. At the end of last year we saw that the total changeable lens (DSLR + CSC) market was up 22.8% in December 2010 vs. December 2009. Panasonic believe that this growth has come from a dramatic increase in consumer demand for creative and high quality photos. 1 in 4 changeable lens cameras sold in December came from the new breed of Compact System Cameras (CSC), as product and lens ranges in this developing format grew. CSC actually grew an impressive 194% vs. the previous year (1). This significant shift can be put down to the smaller size and easier to use attributes of a CSC compared to a DSLR camera – Anyone who enjoys photography can now take professional looking photos without hassle. The good news for Panasonic is that in December 2010 over 1 in 10 of all changeable lens cameras sold were from the Panasonic Lumix G system camera range, making it the best selling CSC range in Christmas 2010 (2). Panasonic is very proud to hold 11.3% market share with the DMC-G2 as its best selling model. To prove that anyone can take creative shots look out for the new GF2 which launches on 28th January and is a must have camera of 2011. . . . → Read More: Panasonic UK success report

I had the “feeling” that Panasonic would not announce the G3 or the new lenses at the CP+ show and now one trusted source confirmed it. He told me Panasonic will not announce the Panasonic G3 at the CP+ show which will take place in Yokohama on February 9th. The G3 announcement will be held the month after (March). This is a bit surprising as the CP+ show is the biggest asian show of the year. The source believes that also the lenses (25mm 1.4 and 12-50mm) will be announced along the G3 in March. So let’s hope the rumor about a possible Olympus press release on February the 8th turns out to be true. Because we don’t want a boring CP+ show! You can read more about the possible product announcements at Mirrorlessrumors.com . The chrome-silver color from the Sony NEX 18-55 kit I am still “struggling” to get info about the price and availability of the new Panasonic 12-50mm f/2.5-3.3 zoom lens. The only new thing we heard form a new source is that the lens will come in SILVER. To be more specific I have been told that the lens color is close to the Sony NEX lens (Chrome). As you know all current Panasonic lenses are Black. A wonder why Panasonic should change the color. The only thing that came into my mind is that this is the very first Panasonic “pro” zoom lens and maybe they want to mark it with the new color. Sounds like that lens is going to be very expensive! I also have a small update about the Panasonic mirror lens. I have been told that Panasonic will announce not one but two mirror tele-lenses. One has a 500mm focal length (it’s a redesigned Minolta 50omm f/8 lens) and the focal length of the second lens is still unknown. One lens will be announced late 2011 and the other lens by early 2012. As usual. Feel free to contact me at 43rumors@gmail.com if you have some info to share. You Can also contact me anonymously using the contact form on the right sidebar. Thanks! . . . → Read More: (FT2) Lens update: 12-50mm lens is SILVER? (FT4) Two tele lenses from Panasonic.

Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-TZ20 (or ZS10 as it’s known in North America) is the latest model in its enormously popular travel zoom series. The new camera may physically resemble last year’s TZ10 / ZS7, but now features a broader 16x optical zoom range, a touch-screen display, higher resolution movie recording at 1080i, and enhanced GPS capabilities with many more landmarks stored in its database. There’s also an inevitable boost in resolution, although coupled with different sensor technology, it does at least now allow faster continuous shooting. Find out more about what’s set to be one of 2011′s best-sellers in our Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ20 / ZS10 preview! . . . → Read More: Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ20 / ZS10 – pocket super-zoom preview!
