Fuji X100 price, availability, accessories, image samples and preorders. Will you really buy it?

Thumbnail

Fuji announced that the X100 will be available in March in USA and in April in Europe. It will be priced at $1,199.95 (US) or 1.000 Euro. You can preorder the camera at Amazon (Click here) . Sorry, I didn’t find any preorder option in Europe. They also announced a new list of accessories: Case To perfectly complement the look and premium quality feel of the X100 camera body, a retro leather “quick shot” case with matching strap has been designed to fit the X100 like a glove. Made out of luxurious leather it has been thought out with uncompromising attention to detail, ensuring the ultimate ease of use and practicality . Lens Hood and Adapter Ring Precision milled from metal, the lens hood and adapter ring will be available as a set. The adapter ring is also compatible with commercially sold 49mm filters. TTL Flash EF-20 (Guide Number:20) and EF-42 (Guide Number:42) will be newly added to the TTL flash line-up. Fuji posted a few official image samples at finepix-x100 (Click here) . We do all agree the camera looks very nice but I do believe the camera will NOT sell well simply because it doesn’t take interchangeable lenses. You know the features, the price and you have see the image samples…so what are you going to do? Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post’s poll. Via Enagadget and Photoscala . – I repeat: There are three reasons why we talk about that camera on 43rumors: 1) Fuji is part of the Four Thirds group 2) We were told by an anonymous source that Fuji is getting help from one of the current Micro Four Thirds members (which is making some parts of the cameras). 3) Because many 43rumors readers do like innovative concepts and well made cameras and I hope Panasonic/Olympus will take notice of our interest to make a DMC-LC1 or Olympus 35RC version of the X100 (of course with interchangeable lenses!) . . . → Read More: Fuji X100 price, availability, accessories, image samples and preorders. Olympus announced the SZ-10, the VG-110 and the 3D VR-330

Thumbnail

Although this is not a Micro Four Thirds related news it is interesting to note that Olympus announced their first 3D compact camera with super zoom. Don’t know if that means that future m43 cameras will be able to do 3D too. Don’t know why I can’t get excited about 3D…and you? Two more news (Four Thirds commitment and Komamura) and a poll.

Thumbnail

With all that “ excitement ” for the Zeiss and Schneider press releases we didn’t discuss two more “ hidden ” info that have been given to us. 1) The Zeiss-Olympus press release contains the following Olympus statement: “ Olympus Imaging Corp. will continue to develop and enhance the product lineup for both standards to meet the diverse needs of our customers. “. So once again Olympus underlines that they will continue to develop both the Micro- and the Four Thirds system! 2) We didn’t talk a lot about it but also Komamura joined m43 ! Komamura is a “ Japanese camera manufacturer / imaging company founded in 1933 as Komamura Brothers & Co. It develops multiple imaging-associated products including battery systems, color management systems and filters as well as professional-oriented cameras and lenses .” I confess that I didn’t know the company. But once you check their website (Click here) you quickly get the impression that they are a very professional company. I didn’t know they make the famous Horseman cameras! A wonder what kind of M43 products they will make! Can you think on any interesting “thing” they could do? That’s a very intriguing question! And here it comes the next DxOmark test that will put the world up side down. Next shipment of Voigtländer Nokton by end of February/March

The most requested lens of the moment is out of Stock …worldwide! I asked a few dealers when the Nokton will be available again. Most of them told me they expect to receive new lenses by late February early March. Example: – Cameraquest will receive new lenses in February – Fotoversand Bayern is accepting orders but will ship them to you in 2-4 weeks – There are only two overpriced lenses available at Amazon Germany . – Amazon France (Click here) says “Inscrivez-vous pour être prévenu lorsque cet article sera disponible.” which pretty much means that you have to wait a very long time before to get it As you know I own the Nokton 25mm lens and I have to say that it is a spectacular lens! And thanks to the Nokton I convinced a Canon 5DmarkII owner to buy into the m43 system . . . → Read More: Next shipment of Voigtländer Nokton by end of February/March

For US/Canada readers: How to buy the GH2 at Digitalrev (Hong Kong)

Digitalrev is also known for their video reviews (the video above shows a GH2 vx 60D comparison) Our US/Canda readers are very frustrated because the GH2 isn’t in Stock at Amazon US , Adorama and BHphoto . That’s why the well know online store Digitalrev contacted me. They wanted you to know that they have the GH2 in Stock (Click here) and you can order it right now. They ship it to US and Canada too! Here is the text they wrote to me: “ Since each state in the US has different tax system, the import handling cannot be pre-applied for US customers. Therefore, the tax will be applied when the camera imported to the specific state. We will provide a photocopied version of the English menu as the cameras are considered as grey import that come with non-English manual, such as Japanese or Chinese. The camera itself would be in English or if just in case, the manual (the booklet) will tell how to change it into English. ” Click here to visit the digitalrev GH2 site and order the GH2 ! And here is the link to the Panasonic GF2 which is also in Stock. Feel free to comment this post to share your experience with Digitalrev. The shop owners are reading your comments! Bye the way, digitalrev ships worldwide. So everyone can buy at Digitalrev. But I know US and canadian readers are particularly in need for the GH2! . . . → Read More: For US/Canada readers: How to buy the GH2 at Digitalrev (Hong Kong)

US deal: Panasonic 45mm for sub $700 (+ more lens price drop)

The Panasonic 45mm lens is now in Stock for less than $700 at Amazon and BHphoto . That’s a much more affordable price than the almost $900 we had to pay for it months ago. You can read a review of the lens at Photozone . And also the new Panasonic 100-300mm lens gets a new discount. It’s in Stock for less than $540 at Amazon (Click here) . Combine those deals with the recent Panasonic 7-14mm price drop and you will notice that Panasonic is lowering the price of some of their best lenses. SLRmagic needs your advice (50mm, 40mm, 12mm lens?)

As you know SLRmagic makes cheap quality and cheap priced m43 lenses based on current CCTV lens design (like the 26mm f/1.4 and 35mm f/1.7 lenses). Via Twitter they are asking m43 owners what kind of lenses they would like to be developed by the company. Panasonic GF2 review at DCresource (+Olympus XZ-1 test at Focus Numerique -> f/1.8 lens super sharp!)

DCresource tested the new Panasonic GF2: “ It offers very good photo quality, snappy performance, a touchscreen LCD with a customizable interface, the best Auto mode on the planet, and Full HD video recording. The bad news is that it has issues with redeye, underexposure, and highlight clipping, and one of the available kit lenses isn’t great, either. ” GF2 shop links: Amazon US , Adorama , BHphoto , Amazon UK , Amazon DE and eBay . Focus Numerique tested the Olympus XZ-1 and the results are astonishing! The lens is super sharp even wide open (at f/1.8)!!! Distortion is minimal. The only moderate issue is Vignetting. Image quality is good from ISO 100 to 400. Dynamic range is a little bit less than the Panasonic LX5 . Message to Olympus: Great acamera, but please we want more good lenses for our Micro Four Thirds system! (FT4) No new Panasonic Gr (or lenses) at the CP+ show?

Thumbnail

I had the “feeling” that Panasonic would not announce the G3 or the new lenses at the CP+ show and now one trusted source confirmed it. He told me Panasonic will not announce the Panasonic G3 at the CP+ show which will take place in Yokohama on February 9th. The G3 announcement will be held the month after (March). This is a bit surprising as the CP+ show is the biggest asian show of the year. The source believes that also the lenses (25mm 1.4 and 12-50mm) will be announced along the G3 in March. So let’s hope the rumor about a possible Olympus press release on February the 8th turns out to be true. Because we don’t want a boring CP+ show! You can read more about the possible product announcements at Mirrorlessrumors.com . P.S.: Read the rumored G3 specs: http://www.43rumors.com/ft5-panasonic-g3-with-a-complete-new-design-new-sensor-and-fullhd/ . . . → Read More: (FT4) No new Panasonic Gr (or lenses) at the CP+ show?

(FT2) Lens update: 12-50mm lens is SILVER? (FT4) Two tele lenses from Panasonic.

The chrome-silver color from the Sony NEX 18-55 kit I am still “struggling” to get info about the price and availability of the new Panasonic 12-50mm f/2.5-3.3 zoom lens. The only new thing we heard form a new source is that the lens will come in SILVER. To be more specific I have been told that the lens color is close to the Sony NEX lens (Chrome). As you know all current Panasonic lenses are Black. A wonder why Panasonic should change the color. The only thing that came into my mind is that this is the very first Panasonic “pro” zoom lens and maybe they want to mark it with the new color. Sounds like that lens is going to be very expensive! I also have a small update about the Panasonic mirror lens. I have been told that Panasonic will announce not one but two mirror tele-lenses. One has a 500mm focal length (it’s a redesigned Minolta 50omm f/8 lens) and the focal length of the second lens is still unknown. One lens will be announced late 2011 and the other lens by early 2012. As usual. Feel free to contact me at 43rumors@gmail.com if you have some info to share. You Can also contact me anonymously using the contact form on the right sidebar. Thanks! . . . → Read More: (FT2) Lens update: 12-50mm lens is SILVER? (FT4) Two tele lenses from Panasonic.
